Celebrating the Bursary Boost: Empowering Future Nurses

At the Registered Nurses Foundation of B.C. (RNFBC), we proudly support aspiring nurses through our Bursary Boost program. Each year, we receive heartfelt messages from recipients, reminding us of your generosity’s immense impact on their educational journeys. Here are the inspiring stories of three incredible nursing students whose futures are brighter because of your support.

Stephanie R: A Dream of Advocacy and Compassion

Stephanie, a first-year nursing student at Langara College, is pursuing her dream of becoming a pediatric or labour and delivery nurse. Inspired by the compassionate care her family received during difficult times, Stephanie is determined to create meaningful nurse-patient relationships and advocate for those who feel lost in the medical system. Living independently while studying, she shared how the bursary has eased her financial burden, allowing her to focus on developing the skills she needs to make a difference in the lives of her future patients.

“Receiving your generous support through the bursary means so much to me. It relieves some of the financial burdens of my education, allowing me to focus more on my studies and the skills I need to develop as a future nurse.” – Stephanie Rao

Samara D: A Calling to Care for Children

Samara, a fourth-year nursing student at the University of Victoria, is driven by her passion for pediatric nursing. Inspired by the resilience and strength of young patients, Samara is committed to creating comforting environments for children and their families during challenging times. Her goal is to foster trusting relationships while providing high-quality care. The bursary she received has lightened her financial load, empowering her to dedicate her energy to her studies and clinical experiences.

“Receiving this bursary is a significant support in my journey. It helps ease the financial challenges of my education, allowing me to dedicate my time and energy to my studies and clinical experiences.” – Samara Dhaliwal

Ariel B: A Commitment to Northern BC

Ariel, a third-year nursing student at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), is committed to serving rural communities in Northern BC. Balancing part-time work alongside her studies, Ariel values the financial stability the bursary provides, enabling her to focus on her passion for nursing. Her goals include graduating, passing the NCLEX, and embarking on a career that makes meaningful connections with clients and their families during critical moments.

“This award makes an incredible difference in ensuring I can stay financially stable while pursuing my passion. I take great pride in being part of such an excellent program in my hometown.” – Ariel Olkanych Boulay
